As far as boots on the ground in Maine goes, they raise money door to door. They "endorse" things but in terms of actual environmental issues go in Maine not much happens. They don't answer hard questions or email. They do carry water for Environment America and the EM website is just a derivative of their site. I suspect their lobbying at legislative committees is written by them. Yes, I was there and testified on issues without pay from anyone. When someone answers their door holding a screaming baby and has a toddler clinging to their leg; the chances are high that person is not at all interested in hearing the Environment Maine spiel. Leave your literature and go...don't keep talking after someone tells you now is not a good time. THREE times.
Any group or organization that takes it upon themselves to knock on your door after 8:00pm, is not a quality organization.
The tag line says it all- working for Maine's clean air, clean water, and open spaces.
