If I could give zero stars i would. My boyfriend and i recently Applied to one of Empire management apartment buildings and were rejected even after providing all of the requested documents. They gave us no reason why we were rejected. We have sufficient income, stable jobs and meet all requirements. In fact, i was A tenant to this building about 7 years ago and was a great tenant to the building and super. I can Only assume that this is racial discrimination as my finance is not white. Getting our security deposit back from this company after moving out of our apartment was a Herculean task. We eventually received it approximately 4 months after moving out, even though New York law requires that it be returned after 14 days. They made up one new excuse after another, the last of which was that "the bank" holding our check was not responding to their requests. Does not care about New York LAW. 65 days and still not security deposit. Continues to blame the bank. Apparently they do not include interest when the finally return to you. Council is on stand-by.
