I had an unexpected visit to the NYU Langone Emergency Department after the diamond part of my earring became embedded in my left ear cartilage. I’m very grateful to Dr. George, his medical student, and Nurse Daniel for their help. Dr. George quickly numbed my ear and removed the entire earring, while Nurse Daniel provided pain medication and antibiotics. My daughter fell down the stairs, and her foot is swollen like a balloon. We arrived at the emergency room, and while the check-in was fast and we were quickly taken to a pediatrics room, the care stalled from there. Three different nurses saw my daughter, gave her ibuprofen, and told us she would need an X-ray. Two hours later, we are still waiting—even though other kids who arrived after us walking perfectly fine have already had their X-rays. After experiencing AFIB earlier in the day I felt as if I was going to pass out at the office so I called EMS and they suggested Winthrop since several of my MD's are affiliated with NYU Langone. I was extremely pleased with the care I received in the ER.
