Brought a loved one with dementia to the ER and was impressed by the staff’s approach. They recognized the cognitive challenges and were proactive in minimizing sensory triggers to keep the environment calm. They were particularly patient in helping manage sundowning symptoms, and adjusting the care plan and pace to accommodate my loved one’s needs. We were seen quickly, and the empathy shown by the team made a high-stress situation more manageable for a memory-care patient.
This review is to bring awareness to the lack of care the ED has and the treatment I got from Anne Bennett MD on two of my visit both not good. I also can't go into other hospitals because Kaiser doest partner with INOVA or Reston HC the most recent one. I go into VHC via ambulance because I was fainting at home and sweating to the point of my clothes being drenched so I go in only in underwear. Giving a 1 star review in hopes they change their ways and resolve the various issues that are listed in these reviews.. At this time, if you have a young child that has an emergency thats not life or death, and you can make the drive *go to Inova Fairfax* instead.
I brought my girlfriend in for abdominal pain and she hasn’t been seen for 3 hours without any pain relief. They were trying to give her Benadryl and droperidol which neither relieve pain symptoms. Yesterday when she was at the ER they gave her morphine which seemed to work until the effects wore off and did not send her home with any pain relief medication, aside from the recommendation of taking Tylenol (which also didn’t work). I have been a fan of VHC. But this ER experience is shocking. The wait time is minimum 3 hours. The nurses are extremely rude and told me the normal wait time in ER in America is 4 to 5 hours. I have been to ER before in the DMV area. It is 2 hours wait max. Another woman waited for 3 hours. A man who was on a wheel chair waited for 6 hours. He still couldnot see a doctor.
