I highly recommend Dr. Nam, especially for anything related to shoulders. I went to see him for what turned out to be a major rotator cuff injury. All three shoulder tendons had torn off the bone. At first, I thought it was just shoulder impingement, so I ignored it and kept up with my normal workout routine. I am deeply disappointed in the billing practices and lack of coordination at this office. Despite having a referral from my primary care physician, this office failed to properly verify or process it before my appointment. When the insurance company flagged the missing referral, the practice made zero effort to work with me or coordinate with my PCP to resolve the administrative oversight. Dr. Ellis Nam is a very good surgeon, my shoulder repair in two spots went way better than I expected, minimal pain and decent range of motion already. the first evaluation visit did feel a bit rushed, but afterwards, visits were thorough and he explained what was the issue and the process of recovery.
I'm so grateful to Dr. Nam for recommending against an unnecessary surgery. I saw him only because poor communication and staff issues with my previous doctor made it too difficult to make arrangements for the arthroscopic knee surgery he had recommended, and expected to get the same advice. Instead, Dr. Nam recognized that a stress fracture was causing my knee pain and that it would heal. Yesterday would have been my surgery day, and I'm already walking and doing normal activities completely pain-free.
