On August 22, 2026, I went to Elkhart General Hospital with severe throat pain that had been worsening for two days. It hurt to swallow my own saliva, drink water, and eat. When I first arrived, a staff member actually swabbed my throat for strep. However, when I was seen by Dr. Mark Canner, he looked at my throat extremely briefly, for what felt like less than a second, and told me I didn't have the symptoms necessary to be tested and that he didn't see the point. I will go here for procedures but not for the emergency room. One of the emergency room doctors was so rude when I brought my baby in that I will NEVER go back to this ER. Their other departments are incredible and I would definitely recommend those.
Was here yesterday for a surgery and everyone was super friendly, my surgeon did a excellent job. I didn't think anyone came off as rude. The lady who wheeled me out post op was very kind as well. I had a positive experience, I was nervous at first because of some of the reviews on here, but in my experience everyone was professional. Thank you
Had an eye emergency that resulted in a late night trip to the er. The wait wasn't too long. Nurses were friendly and efficient and the doctor that attended to me made me feel comfortable. She had a solid game plan with next steps for treatment. No one likes going to the er. Elkhart General made a less than ideal situation tolerable.
