I came in for a routine cleaning and was told I had to get a panoramic mouth x-ray that would earn the clinic around $300. I was told it was to screen for oral cancer. Being 23 and having no risk factors, I politely declined. I was then told it wasn’t optional and all patients had to get this x-ray that wasn’t completely covered by insurance and earned the clinic $300.
