Moved another tenant in before my lease expired with my utilities still on

This is simply not true. No one has occupied the premises and will not until the official end of the lease. The only people who have been in the unit are maintenance people who were fixing minor issues before making it ready for the next tenant to move in AFTER the end of the lease. No one is using utilities in her name. We have not changed the locks either. She still had the correct key to the unit. These are false claims. DON'T RENT FROM THIS COMPANY Our move-in date was on 11/10 and the place was NOT move in ready. The place was covered in damages and had ROACHES!!! The manager, Erica didn't apologize or have any kind of sympathy for the situation - and just acted like we were being unreasonable. First, Hayli, as much as we appreciate your feedback, I think you failed to mention that you have been refunded every penny of your deposit, etc in an extremely timely manner (48 hours), as we actually expedited the payment due to the circumstances. This is not the way you can typically expect to find a unit when you move into an Elder Management property. Coordination of the move-in was not scheduled correctly with the crew. I paid $850 deposit on what was described as a duplex with a garage on Facebook. When I went to check out the unit it was an apartment building with 6 units and no garage for the one I was looking at.. The lady I spoke with said that we can just cancel lease because this all happened the same day. Said we can just cancel & would only be charged for the application fee & I would get my $850 back in 120 DAYS!!!! Are you KIDDING ME?? then she said to just dispute it with my bank and I should get my money faster... it has now on... read more

We also have an exterior picture of the building which clearly shows it is not a duplex. Horrible company to rent from! Go elsewhere ! Terrible maintenance and unprofessional people!
We have rented from Elder for 6 years. My wife and I have always found then to be easy to communicate with and very customer oriented. We've had some maintenance requests over the years, and they were always addressed. Everything from replacing our washing machine, hot water heater, garbage disposal unit and even busted water pipes. They even replaced our carpet with new hardwood flooring!! The rent price price was even lower than other companies in the area. This company is poor to the core. I mean just plain bad. They hire cheap labor to clean units and do the bare minimum. The managment hires the cheapest personnel for all work & office. They took a month to fix my A/C in July when I first moved in. The closets were gross and they never did take care of it. Their A/C units can't handle the July/August heat. They either stall-to-fix, cheap-fix or NO-fix. ...yet they drive $80K BMWs and Acuras. Take move-in pics and document all. They will get you on moveout too. Do not rent fro... read more
This is absolutely the most corrupt company I've ever encountered. Although the lady at the front desk in the office on College is really nice and helpful, the rest of the staff is terrible. When we toured the property at Pleasant Woods, the model unit they showed us was pretty nice, but when we moved in the carpet had horrible yellow stains- too many to count. It took over three months just to get someone to come look at it and when they did they said it was fine. With much persistence we finally got the owner's son to come... read more
