Trusted, Caring, Above & Beyond
We trust Dr. Bhakri and his staff with our beloved companions. ELC Vet has shown us over and over again how much they care for our pets, are patient with us when we want more details on a medical condition in order to make an informed decision, and have gone above and beyond the normal provider/patient relationship.
Our feline companions are our family, and is important to us that they are comfortable with the vet and his staff - which they definitely are. When boarded there, they are spoiled in a good way.
Dr. Bhakri has excellent communication with us calling back to answer questions, calling us to follow up on our cat's recovery, explaining things clearly to us, and talking things through with us if necessary to make a treatment decision.
Dr. Bhakri knows how sensitive one of our cats is to medication and is very forthcoming with successful treatment suggestions that work without medication when possible.
Our older cat, almost 21 years of age, has been going to ELC since he was rescued 20 years ago. When the previous vet retired we were very concerned about switching vets; all those concerns were unnecessary. We attribute our cat's long life in part to the treatment he has received from Dr. Bhakri over the last few years. The geriatric panel he suggested the first time he saw him caught a chronic kidney condition in time to be treated. The steam room treatment just cured a sinus infection. The diabetes our cat developed after an illness in 2007 was treated so well that he is now in remission.
Dr. Bhakri recommends only the tests that are truly necessary, and never overcharges.
The 6 days/week office hours are very nice when a cat is sick - because the cat can be, and sometimes is, sick over the weekend, not just during the week. The extended hours on Wednesday are very helpful also.
One of our beloved companions was recently diagnosed with a rare heart tumor; for which Dr. Bhakri consulted many times (at no additional charge to us) with an oncologist. We kept trying treatments to improve our cat's quality of life back to a level which he would accept, which was difficult with such a rare condition with no known morbidity #s or acknowledged treatment path. He'd been kitten like, even though 18 years old, until 3 weeks before he died. Our companion died over a holiday weekend at the emergency clinic in SJ. Since he'd bit an oncology tech 2 days earlier in SJ, the mergency clinic wouldn't release his body to us. They wanted to send it to the state for testing, even though it was impossible that he could have contacted rabies. Dr. Bhakri and his staff were tireless in their efforts to have his body returned to us. Anna even offered (and we gratefully accepted) to bring his body back to ELC when it was released thanks to their efforts, since the sudden death was so difficult for us. Now that's what I call above and beyond.
We highly recommend ELC veterinary clinic.
