Good Mexican food. The waiter's English wasn't very good but it had little impact on the service experience.
el palenque mexican restaurant – great food service is very good is our favorite mexican restaurant for years the chicken soup is extra gooood prices are not expensive and plenty of food
A family favorite for food and service – Our family has been going to El Palenque about as long as it has been open, and it is our favorite Mexican restaurant. We like the food, we like the fact that it is not a chain, and we like the friendly neighborhood atmosphere. I am surprised to hear the complaints about the service. We have never had a service problem. Furthermore, the owners remember us and ask us about our now-grown children.
Great Mexican food – Granted the service can vary, the food is always a great. It's better quality Mexican than restaurants like Las Palmas and less expensive than the nearby La Paz. The fajitas are my favorite menu item. It's a lot of food for the money. My boyfriend and I can split them and each get three good sized fajitas.
Great food- service taking a siesta – Depending on your server- if you can find one- service is not good or just o.k. at best- bordering on the worst- once you find someone to take your order however, things just seem to fall in line. . . the food is actually very good and my girlfriend swears by the spicy chicken soup.
Great food, horrible service. – While the food here is excellent, the service, for the most part, is absolutely horrible. Save for a single waiter, the entire staff is sirly and seems put out that they have any customers at all. It even reaches the point of being comical. If you can stomach the service, the food is amazing.
Horrible Service – Though I usually love the food at El Palenque, I recently had a horrible experience that will prevent me from ever going back again. The waiter told my friend that they did not have a certain drink, only to find out that it was served at other tables. The waiter argued with us when there was a communication problem about the meal that was ordered. He actually had the audacity to raise his voice to us. When we spoke to the manager, he simply laughed at the situation. I will never go back, and I hope others ... read more
gets very busy! – Best Mexica around! We discovered it when we first moved here and have been going at least twice a week. Thiere ingredients were surprisingly fresh from the tomatoes to the cheese! They also have a great vegetarian menu wich is hard to find anywhere! It is very authentic and even the people that work there are very nice and acomodating. This place gets busy though so be sure to call ahead or get there before the peak times which is around 5:30 or 6 pm.
Pioneers of the "real" Mexican scene, they've still got the touch. – In Short Back when the only taco you could find was shaped like a saddle, El Palenque came along with earthshaking dishes like mole poblano. Here, you'll find casual booths and tables, beer-sign lighting, and the requisite sombreros and ponchos tacked on the wall. Families and friends come for gargantuan portions of traditional Mexican favorites like chicken mole and green enchiladas.
