For Frankfort, this is a nice sit down Mexican restaurant with higher quality ingredients. The food was good The skirt steak tampiquena was good overall with a nice quality steak. Rice and beans well seasoned. The pork guisado could have used more heat and more seasoning. El Mezcal used to be a favorite but the last two times I ate there the food was barely warm and the service was lacking. Maybe that's why the restaurant was not crowded on a Saturday evening as it has been in the past. This past Saturday, only two other tables were occupied in our side of the restaurant yet water refills had to be requested, as did a second cocktail order. And we watched the wait staff kibbitz in the back by the bar.
Went for lunch with family. Decor and painted furniture was beautiful and very authentic. Servers were attentive and very friendly. The food was okay but lacking. My husband had Chilaquiles and it was very bland with a slab of scrambled eggs sitting on top, no sour cream or queso fresco, and it had mozzarella cheese on it. This is hands down one of the best Mexican spots around the Chicagoland area authentic homemade the birria was perfectly tender the consommé had the right flavor and kick to it the horchata was the best I’ve had hands down couldn’t recommend this place more
