The food is very pricy and flavorless. And they charge 20% for "Automatic Gratuity" (tips) which they do not deserve. I do not recommend eating at this restaurant.
After sub-par service (server never brought me a glass of water though I requested one twice; empty water glasses stayed that way; etc.), I was presented with a $199 bill, which included an obligatory tip of over $28 that was undeserved. I asked why the prices did not match the menu. The server told me she forgot to tell me that the prices went up 3 months ago and that now I'll know for next time. No...there will be no next time! Great food, no wait. – If you want delicious mexican food without the 30 minute wait, El Alteno is for you. In the 10 or more times that I have been, I have never waited for a table. The lack of crowd is not for the lack of great food. They have a wide selection of items and all are tasty. They also make a mean Margarita. I highly recommend El Alteno!
