in the middle of a heatwave we had a problem with our A/C. Was told by (redacted) company that my issue was thermostat related. I replaced it only to find it did not solve it. With the house heating up, we made a call and Edison Electric came out -(not joking) in 10 minutes. They were on the way to another job but was able to make quick pit stop, analyze the issue (fuse, wire not installed correctly by that OTHER place and also located a chewed on wire outside) Short story: it was fixed.
