Took my mom here for what we now know is a torn ligament in her shoulder. Dr. Burgers or whatever was unwelcoming and dismissive from the start. Cut off my mom every other sentence and basically said he didn’t know what to do. Gave my mom a steroid shot on her torn muscle and she was in excruciating pain for the days after, and it didn’t provide any relief. She went to her primary orthopedic doctor and was told that recent studies show steroid shots are NOT okay to use with torn shoulder ligaments. Not sure if he saw a woman... read more
I hate to do this, but I rely on reviews to make informed decisions and this might help someone else. I was referred to Dr. Burgess by the ER I visited after an injury. He looked at by X-ray and wrote it off as an ankle sprain because there were no fractures to the bone in the X-ray. I explained I had sprained it before and how it felt and looked very different (extremely swollen all around and severely bruised heel to toes). I became a patient of Dr. Burgess's to repair two torn tendons in my right shoulder. Dr. Burgess was always very patient answering all my questions before and after my surgery. I found him extremely capable! Both my physical therapists were very impressed with the results from the surgery. They had told me of surgery patients from other doctors and felt that Dr. Burgess was very progressive in his methods. It was a tough several months, but I am very happy with the final results. Dr. Burgess is incredible. I'm only 4 plus months from surgery and my progress is closer to where I should be at 6 months! Physical therapy helps a lot, but he fixed me up right!
