Where is the homemade bread????? – I've been going to Eccola for a few years now, it's 2 blocks from where I live, so,why not? You have to admire a place like this. The pasta you had there in 2000 (an loved it) will taste the same in 2005.It is not fancy, but the staff there gives you an honest service, very polite and attentive, and the food is simple but yet well prepared. It's cheap, so you can avoid the "early bird $9.95" dinner, because the crowd is too noisy.I find $ 6.50 for a glass of wine a bit too much, and also they ... read more
Can't beat the overall value !!! – My parents actually dated at Ecco-la, so for us it is a "family tradition".The food used to be much better, but it is -by far- the best in the area, the service is excelent, the wait staff is friendly and attentive, as for "ambience", the place seems trapped on the late 80's. Worth a visit, even if only for the "Cheers" factor.
Worst ever! – If this place were free, I wouldn't even consider it. The food is inedible, service is terrible and the decor is so cheesy and awful. Overall, a horrendous experience. The food is not even that cheap and nothing should be this bad. If you have any taste buds at all or feel like wasting money then this is the place for you!
Excellent Pasta – The pasta dishes here are great. It is a nice place to go with friends for lunch. It's a great place on the Upper East Side that you can visit with out having to go south of 86th Street.
Good pasta, low prices – the food is very consistent. the pasta is delicious. i am a big fan. you can always order in.
Lovely risotto – Overall, Ecco-La is an average Italian, and an old standard on the upper East side. However, I tried the risotto for the first time recently and WOW. You've got to try it!
