TERRIBLE BUILDING AND MANAGEMENT. I would give them negative stars if I could. My in-laws stayed here for a couple of months while visiting us. My in-laws are impeccably tidy, and left the apartment in better condition than when they arrived- at no time did any of us see any stains on the carpets in any room (and if she had seen any she would have asked them to clean them or cleaned them herself). After they returned home they received a letter explaining that since they had a pet that left stains in the apartment that they ... read more

WORST PLACE ON THE PLANET TO RENT FROM. THEY TREAT YOU LIKE A KING OR QUEEN UP UNTIL YOU SIGN THE LEASE AND EVERYDAY AFTER THAT THEY WALK RIGHT PAST YOU AS THOUGH YOU ARE DIRT ON THEIR FEET. NOONE IN THAT OFFICE HAS ANY SOCIAL SKILLS. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS OVERPRICED FACILITY WITH ROBOTS WORKING IN THE OFFICE. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the perks offered with your rental payment are: Paper thin walls that allow you to hear every noise Nickle and dime charges for everything from trash collection (is that really optional) to sewer fees that are not disclosed in the rent up front Fire alarms that go off in the middle of the night at least once per month because of the poor design of the building A clueless corporate office staff that has an error in 2 out of 3 bills $550 in move out charges for cleaning, painting and carpet cleaning, or basically items... read more

This is by far the WORST rental experience I've ever had - and I've lived in quite a few apartments. The leasing office has been extremely rude throughout my 1 year lease and the agency does NOT comply with the terms of their leases. They will find ways to charge you fees and penalties for things that are NOT in the lease you signed. They have changed their current lease to reflect these new penalties, but expect more penalties than even those. The only bright side is the wonderful people at the concierge desk. They are fant... read more

They will trick you, deceive you, even lie to you – Immediately, I would advise anyone considering this building to LOOK ELSEWHERE. Having spent a year with Archstone, I can say that it is not worth the hassle, that the building is overpriced, that the quality of the rooms are sub-par, and that the management team purposefully trick you into paying completely unnecessary fees. Let me explain, as the leasing and management team is the most common complaint of this building. I lived there for 12 months, always being current wi... read more

lies – When I moved in I did not think the price was too high. My partner and I were paying $2,475 for a two-bedroom apartment, a parking spot, and dog rent for our two dogs. We are law students and live off of a fixed income from our federal loans. When we signed our lease we were warned that the price may go up if the apartment cannot offer the same amount of concessions. However, the employee that helped us sign our lease said that when it comes to that we should just say that we are students and that we cannot pay more. ... read more

Don't Move Here – Do not be fooled by the decent price, amenities, and that the place "looks nice." It is all a veneer for incompetent staff, poor management, and deception. Sure, you sign a lease thinking you've struck a deal. The deposit is super cheap and the space is nice. WARNING: things will start to break, the "secure" parking garage doors will never work properly, they come into your apartment for random inspections without telling you, leaving notices on the door after the fact. Plus, the location is not ideal. And ... read more

Ugh. – I have lived in this complex for 27 months. When it was owned by UDR, my roommate and I had no problems, what so ever. Since ownership changed to Avalon about 8 months ago, however, we have had nothing but. No one is ever in the office to answer the phones, they either don't check the answering machine or decide not to respond to phone calls, when you go in, the people there at the front desk know NOTHING about anything. The only information they have is specifically regarding leasing. If you have a question even a li... read more

Over Priced in Pasadena – There are good and bad things about the Mark. The building looks great from the 70s with year-round heated pool and if you have a dog, one of the few that allows large dogs. The apartment is relatively large with a gas fireplace and a good-sized balcony. Other positives include the location to South Lake shopping and eating with a short walk to Caltech's Beckman Auditorium and beautiful campus. But the small poorly designed kitchen and all electric utilities means poor storage and overly high utilit... read more
