horrible place to live – This is the worst place i ever lived in my life so far. If you have a dog, and you care about his safety, please don't live here. There's been a lot of cases of dog's been attacked by dangerous dogs that lives in the building like pitbull and they didn't absolutely nothing. Veeery unfriendly staff at the front desk.. seriously!! Very expensive/ dangerous neighborhood ( daylight u think its nice but if start living here you know how dangerous it is at night)
Bad Construction and Unfriendly Staff for "Luxury" Living" – If you're going to spend over $2500 for a 1 bedroom...look elsewhere. The appliances are shiny, but constantly break down. The weed smoking is insane in the building. The dog pee in the carpet smells when it's humid. The women in the front office act like they hate their jobs, and you. Loud and Plenty of Weed – This is simply a college dorm under the guise of a luxury building. It's loud, dog piss in the hallways, and weed smoke can always be found in the hallways. Spend the rent money elsewhere for peace of mind.
Do you love unexpected 11% rent increases? – No? Then by all means continue searching because that is exactly what you will find at the Archstone Ballston Square apartments where Danielle and the "management" team will make sure that you are treated as exactly what you are...a rent check and nothing more. Used to be good, not anymore – I've lived at Fairfax Towers for five years and, up until very recently, have enjoyed it immensely. However, about a month ago the building was bought by AvalonBay Communities and it has gone downhill fast! It's so, so sad. They fired almost everyone, including the irreplaceable concierge. Residents signed a petition on her behalf and made numerous phone calls, but they didn't care. And they're making changes to try and pinch every penny out of us. The office hours are shortened. Oakwood infested with BED BUGS- Stay away – I have been living in Oakwood for almost 4 years and I have to say that this year a lot of tenants are complaining about their apartments being infested with Bed Bugs. Oakwood took a few actions and brought a few times Orkit to get rid of this infestation but so far no luck. The problem is getting worse and worse and many residents have been bitten by these bed bugs. the complains are rising and probably residents will end up opening a lawsuit against Oakwood. 15% Rent Increase After First Year, Management is a Joke – I had no problems with Archstone until they showed their true colors. With the current economy, we had inquired about average rent increases upon move-in. At that time we were told by a leasing agent 3-5% had been the average increase after the first year. Raised my rent $101/month after the first year – I've lived at Tunlaw Gardens for two years. It's an old art deco apartment building, and that was the charm for me, but be warned -- they raised my rent $101 per month after the first year. This was after telling me that rents were usually raised only $20-$50/month when I signed up for the apartment.
