cheap for decent sushi – Pretty good overall except the space is small. I would imagine the wait on a weekend night is never-ending.

salmon tuesdays <33 – ok, so we go to this place because of the conveyor belt and me and my friends were looking for something different. . . let me tell you this is an expierience worthwhile. at the entrance you are greeted by a lady shining with a beautiful smile then when you are seated you are greeted by the sushi chefs with a "irasshaimase" which means welcome. the sushi can be ordered or you can just pluck the sushi from the conveyor belt that rotates around the restaurant. this is one of the best places to go to if yo... read more

best japanese restaurant – East is a very special and exquisite authentic japanese restaurant. its conveyor belt is an awesome way to transport little appetizers such as sushi and dessert. the restaurant has great service and its food represents the mother country of Japan. there are seats around the sushi makers so you can see food freshly made. the main courses in the menu just blew me away when it came by. i would recommend the udon and the boxes that consist of tempura, sushi, salad, and side dishes. the overall price is... read more

Editorial Review by Marcella Veneziale – Plates of sushi roll by for diners' choosing on the conveyor belt, redefining the concept of the grab-and-go meal.

My first experience with conveyor belt sushi – I was told about this conveyor belt sushi idea and didn't believe it to be true until I saw it with my own eyes. The moment you sit down (downstairs), you are passed by plates of two, three or maybe four pieces of sushi, so grab away! The plates are all colour-coded, so that's how they determine how much you eat. You also see advertisements along the conveyor belt for other things that are specially made in the kitchen, like special miso soup with clams. The whole experience fee... read more

A Great Place to Eat from Baruch College – My friend Sandy introduced this place. There are inexpensive sushi, lunch boxes ($15-20) and noodle soups (Get soba noodles). It is a great environment to be in after 5pm. You can be seat on the 2nd floor.

Good Sushi A La Carte – The best thing about East is that it is perfect for small eaters or people who don't like eating too much of the same thing. Watch as food rolls around the converyor belt for whatever tickles your fancy. A really good roll I had tried was a salmon roll that was wider than usual, had a slab of salmon outside of the roll and was sprinkled with fish roe. Can't remember the name of it though. Prices are pretty low and sushi is good. A definite must try.

Can't live without it – Bottom line, East is a staple of my diet. I used to live on 25th & 1st, so it made sense to go quite often, but now I live in Queens & still go--that tells you how great it is. You can either have sushi conveyor style downstairs or eat in style upstairs. Private tables, quiet, but not too quiet. It's great for a first date--amazing food for really great prices!

Fresh & diverse if you're there in primetime. – I live nearby and have been at least 50 times in the last two years. Consistently excellent, fresh fish at a great price, but you've got to go when they're good and busy or otherwise selection and freshness quickly deteriorate. The price to pay; Japanese restaurants are always strict about timings anyway, and I can accept that for such great stuff.
