When my house was new I lost a few shingles. Called 3 roofers. Two quoted a new roof. Earl said "You don't need a new roof, you just need a few shingles replace." For many years I did that annually for a tiny fraction of the cost of a full roof. Finally the roof was damaged by really high winds. Earl recommended an upscale product for a bit more than insurance covered. Sadly, I don't get to see Earl anymore because the new roof has not lost any shingles.
