Today we celebrated my Aunt’s 60th birthday with a party of 30 plus. S/O to our waiter/waitress who provided excellent customer service the whole entire time with such a big group. Amazing dock size with the view of the ocean. Eating outside to enjoy this beautiful/tropical Tampa weather. Even with it being extremely hot, the outdoor seating had fans every where. Had a large party a group of about 30. Service was great, food was great. Of course being Florida, the outside temp was on SCORCH. They had fans strategically placed to counter the heat.
Duke’s is a great local spot for a beer, a bite to eat, and a beautiful sunset. It’s casual, super chill, and totally lives up to its name—Duke’s Retired Surfer Bar. My friend’s birthday happened to fall in the middle of the week, and since we both live nearby, we decided to celebrate with burgers and drinks at Duke’s. My first time. So good. I got the grouper tacos. I kinda wish there was a lil more grouper bc I felt if I got a sandwich w a full piece maybe I would've gotten more. Felt was a lil light, side cuts.?. Still delicious. Just not much in taco. My friend got burger n u just cant go wrong w that portion size. Perfect n cooked as she wanted. Having gone to the Dukes on Maui, my expectations were pretty high. Having this restaurant tied to the Hula grill was a bit confusing to be honest. This is more of a bar than a restaurant. We asked for lemon water and got nasty tap water to start, no lemons. We ordered the Poke Bowl 8/10 The mahi fish sandwich and couple of burgers.
