Waited in ER waiting room over 24 hours, some patients beside me had been in the ER for 2-3 days. Person beside me was having a stroke, a couple of others were having heart attack symptoms; no triage; completely packed, no walking room. Was assessed by 2 MDs before given pain meds and meds for nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Once I got a bed in the ER, I was yelled at for coming to the ER; seen the day before in a different ER for the same symptoms that were much worse. I am so thankful for Duke University Health System. In 2021, my daughter came to my house to check on me because she had tried to contact me for 3 days with no success. She immediately knew something was very wrong. I couldn’t even walk and was in and out of reality. She ended up calling EMS to get them to assist in getting in her car. That’s because she knew my county hospital was not where I needed to be. She was so right and I am so thankful for that decision. In 2 hours, she had a diagnosis.
