Our house still has its original ductwork from decades ago so I figured something might turn up eventually. Ductomatic Air Duct Cleaning found a section that had rusted through pretty badly during their inspection before starting. They explained why cleaning it as is would not do much good until it was repaired. A little concerning to hear but I trusted them more for catching it instead of just cleaning around it.
I had no clue what kind of ductwork we even had until Ductomatic Air Duct Cleaning took a look and identified it as fiberglass lined instead of standard metal. They explained that meant using a gentler method so it would not get damaged during cleaning. It was reassuring to know they were not just using the same approach on every house. Felt like getting a service tailored to our actual system instead of a generic job.
The technician mentioned there was more pet fur built up in our ducts than they usually see. We have two dogs so it did not fully surprise us but it was still a lot. The air feels noticeably cleaner now that it has all been cleared out.
Our HVAC system is getting up there in age and we are not ready to replace it yet. Getting the ducts cleaned felt like a smart way to ease the load on it. Hoping it helps the system last a good while longer before we need anything new.
Overall, the company did an excellent job. We called them because we hadn’t cleaned our vents in years and there was a lot of dust in the house. The technicians were very polite and efficient in completing the job and explained to us what they found in the vents. One of the vents took a little longer to clean than we expected because it was probably dirtier than the other vents but still they completed the job for us professionally and in timely manner.
