Excellent Service and Local Knowledge! I had a fantastic experience at the Fly Shop! As someone who’s still learning the ropes, I really appreciated how helpful and welcoming the staff were. They didn’t just sell me gear—they took the time to set up my rod, make sure I had the right equipment for the local area, and even shared some great fishing spot recommendations that really paid off. Went on a guided flyfishing trip with Beau today 7/18/25, to the Gallatin River. First off the guide was very professional, knowledgeable and a great person to fish with. Beau was a 5- star plus rated guide. Caught some really nice fish and learned a few things I did not know. Again A+ guide service.
I feel obligated to post this because of how bad this place was. We stayed awhile ago for only one of the two two nights we booked because it was absolutely disgusting from start to finish. The room reeked of mold and smoke, the sheets were visibly stained, and there was hair all over the bathroom. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned before we arrived. It wasn't an employee, I was just living under my partner's last name, hahaha....beard, stench, expensive and not available what the customer ordered, and on top of that, an arrogant owner who does not respond to complaints! The property is far from Yellowstone Park. We do not recommend this facility. It's better to pay extra and rent something closer...
DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. I don’t normally post reviews but the way my booking was handled by the owner, Mike, was shocking... I had planned a road trip from Texas to Canada and booked this place well in advance. But just a week before my trip, I was in a serious accident that required major surgery. I had to cancel everything. Every other hotel and lodge I booked showed compassion and worked with me, except for this one.
