This is very saddening that this man is still practicing medicine. My husband had a stroke during back surgery and 7 yrs later my husband is still in a wheelchair and disabled. I am a nurse and was concerned about my husband’s blood pressure as it was elevated that morning but Mr. Zhu told us he would be fine and the anesthesiologist would take care of him. This man and his staff literally SAVED MY LIFE!!! I was experiencing horrific headaches and my legs became paralyzed one morning when I woke up. My husband took me to the ER and then I was transferred to NGH to the neuro ICU. It took five days to find out I had a rare blistered brain aneurysm due to so much blood in my brain. Dr.zhu done surgery on my neck in August 2024 and he done a great job. He has bed side manners and he will always be my everyday hero and I will highly recommend him.
I share this very personal and tragic review for the consideration of neurosurgery patients. An event occurred just prior to a C1-2 fusion he performed. After putting me under general anesthesia, I was turned on my belly, with my head off the end of the table, unsupported. Dr Zhu then dropped a 40-60 pound piece of medical equipment, called a Mayfield Clamp, on my head. An inches-long laceration and TBI occurred. Dr. Zhu and his staff was my medical neurologist surgical team that included many others. They started out evaluating my situation as I was experiencing sciatic pain down my left leg from the beginning of the morning upon standing vertically and throughout the day. The issue started 10/23/2022 and was persistent. Based upon insurance procedure I am suspecting they recommended pain management treatment.
