I would not recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone. I was fortunately not in a desperate situation when I saw him, but nevertheless he was completely unhelpful.

I am another of Dr. Anderson's patients who worked with him closely for an extended period, and can say that I was helped by him significantly. I can do no better than PDXDiamond in their review at explaining Dr. Anderson's approach and why it might suit some patients better than others. I would add that new patients are encouraged to ask direct questions of potential therapists about their treatment approach, whether it is helpful for addressing more limited problems on a quicker schedule, etc. This can feel hard to do as a... read more

I would to recommend Dr. Anderson to anyone. I was fortunately not in a desperate situation when I saw him, but nevertheless he was completely unhelpful. I went week after week hoping I was going to get some advice, guidance or feedback on how I could get help with my issues and he offered nothing. It is criminal the amount of money he makes per session and the lack of help he provides. Look elsewhere.

I will defend Dr. Anderson by saying that his mode of therapy is psychoanalysis, and his treatment is commensurate with that approach. I also went to therapy expecting advice, assignments, etc. and learned that this is not typically a part of analysis. If you need that approach, seek out therapists offering CBT, rationale-emotive, etc. These approaches are very effective but are targeted toward people experiencing bumps in the road.
