Dr. Tynan is a great surgeon n very humble man. He operated on our son's brain tumors . He removed 3 first time after being up late into night talking with my son and our family . Removed 3 more 2 yrs later both successful n no side effects. He has always asked how he was doing n dealing with all this n always took time for questions. I know he is the only surgeon we would want doing future surgeries. He is a gem that Avera has so hope they keep him!
I can't believe some of the idiotic comments made about Dr. Tynan, last time I checked he was a Doctor and I appreciated his approach with my father's care. He was informative, factual, and to the point so as to not waste his or anyone else's time. I would recommend this doctor to anyone, and would be confident in his care.
Dr Tynan spent a fair amount of time with me,going over my MRI and checking my reflexes and other neuro symptoms. I felt he was professional, caring, and he took the time to explain my options. I would go back to him for my surgery when the time is right because I trust his ability and judgement.
He might know about neurosurgery but the guy has zero personality and is rude. I'll never go back to this store, look elsewhere...this guy just doesn't give a darn about the patient.
Pros: Listens well, asks essential questions, very down-to-Earth, level-headed, knows his stuff. Cons: Slight temper (Who wouldn't get a little pissed off arguing with someone who doesn't quite have it all upstairs?), a tad quick with the Rx pad and pen, not super-informative on medication side-effects (but then again, any good doc wouldn't want to sabotage treatment by scaring a patient). Overall: This man is good at what he does. Tips for getting the most out of John: Type everything you want to cover in your appointment b... read more
on February 29,2012, I called John Erpenbach's nurse, it was a Wed. afternoon, I told her a LONG LIST of symptoms I was having, I was super crying, having suicidal thoughts (I have overdosed before, back in Dec. 2008). the nurse told me John probably wouldn't get back to me til Thursday. I'd figure that if I'd tried suicide before & I was having major suicidal thoughts that I should have received an ASAP response. It made me feel that I wasn't important enough because I did not, in fact, get a response until MONDAY(March 5th... read more
Would not recommend...this man has treated my mom for a few years. It has been a roller coaster. He is so rude, he yells at my mom, who suffers from major depression, in the office (is that something you should do to a depressed patient???) His nurse is one of the rudest people we have encountered. She hangs up on my mom when she calls in with questions or concerns. My mother has gone down hill a lot since seeing him. Very rude man and nurse!
I have seen John since 2005 He has helped my life out greatly. Thank You
Great guy. He is very knowledgeable. Staff was very friendly.
