I have been a patient with Dr. Varki for over one year. By far he has been the most understanding and compassionate doctor that I have met. Upon our first meeting, he explained everything thoroughly and took his time. He once told me that he would be my biggest cheerleader, and he fulfilled that goal. Anyone needing to see an oncologist, I would highly recommend Dr. Varki. He will be missed by all in Baltimore.
Dr. Varki is just an all around fine person, both personally and professionally. After my initial diagnosis, i had a situation at a different hospital I was not comfortable with. After much prayer I found Mercy, and Dr. Varki. As a person who has anxiety esp. with a cancer diagnosis I can honestly say after my first appointment with him,, I relaxed, and knew I was going to be taken care of, and I really was! The best doctors are doctors that are good listeners, compassionate, good bedside manner, and knowledgeable but also listens to their instincts and that of their patients. This type of doctor is a healer in many ways. All of this and more describes perfectly Dr. Varki. I only wish he was my PCP, we need doctors like him. He helped heal me and I will always be grateful.
Dr. Varki has been a phenomenal Oncologist. In addition to his medical expertise, Dr. Varki's compassion, kindness and willingness to take however much time I need to give me info and reassurance re: my cancer, have been what has gotten me through my treatment. He has been very honest, not offering empty assurances, and at the same time offering hope and optimism. Dr.Varki is not only a great doctor but a wonderful person. He took the time out to make me feel that he truly cared about me as a patient and a person.
