"When treating an infectious disease, patients are often anxious and are seeking information. When approaching a patient after my assessment, I explain to the patient what I think is occurring and what I think we should do to treat the problem. But I am very mindful that the patient is part of the decision making; I put myself in the patient's place – what would I expect? As a physician you have to see both sides."

This doctor will rush you out of her unorganized and unprofessional office without listening or caring. It's like she wants to push as many cattle through as possible to get to the last one. She almost killed me. She won't listen and her staff won't call you back. Go elsewhere. I love Eisenhower Health. I detest this "doctor" and think they should cut ties with her quickly.
She is rude. Her staff is unorganized. My appointment was rescheduled twice by them. The appointment was very rushed. The doctor understood nothing and gave me the wrong prescription.
The worst experience I've ever had with any dr, ever. She told me should would not contact the Dr who diagnosed me. She didn't even know the meds I was on for the problem, and it was listed in my chart. She knew nothing about my situation and refused to open the chart. She was rude and condescending. She told me nothing about the meds she prescribed and told me to talk to the pharmacist. She forgot to send the prescription to the pharmacy, and sent it to the wrong pharmacy after that. I see a lot of Drsand this was the worst... read more
Was admitted to Eisenhower after a procedure at Eisenhower that left me with sepsis. Dr. Valerie Patel and her team refuses to listen to me about where the source of my problem was! After two months of ER, hospital stays and care facilities, a Dr Joseph Wilson finally saved my life after removing a huge empyema from my plural cavity. Patel and her grossly incompetent staff were blind to the source of my infection. Horrible!
I am a patient from Hawaii, and could not get an infectious disease specialist who would accept new patients. Dr. Patel accepted me as a patient, and she is fantastic! She is knowledgeable, professional and follows through with everything. Because of Dr. Patel's care, both my husband and I have switched from Loma Linda to Eisenhower.
Very impressed with Dr Patel she took the time to review my medical history and re-evaluate my treatment plan. She eliminated unnecessary drugs and was very easy to work with.
She was professional & friendly & did the appropriate test but never notified me of lab results like she said. I called & was told they were normal. I asked what was the follow up plan because I still had the problem & it wasn't caused by normal circumstances & was told that he would talk with Dr. Patel & call me back. That was 3 weeks ago & I still haven't received a call back. I guess if one test was normal then I must not have a problem! No follow up!
