I am a ultrasound tech and my husband is a patient. I did an unoffical ultrasound of my husband as her has a strong family history of thyroid cancer and I was being proactive looking at his thyroid.He saw the nurse practitioners and asked them for a ultrasound as he has a VERY STRONG family history of thyroid cancer (which should immediately prompt further testing), they refused to order a simple non invasive ultrasound.
