Egotistical and negative. No bedside manner. This is not the surgeon I would wish for anyone I loved.
Last year in July of 2022, Dr. McGovern saved my husband's life after he almost died from a colonoscopy where that other doctor perforated my husband's colon in two places. He had to remove his entire small colon, and a portion of the large colon. Was Dr. McGovern as attentive as he could have been? Maybe not. But he did what he does well, and my husband is alive and well today. Dr. McGovern saved his life, and I couldn't be more grateful.
Having surgery by Dr. McGovern has been the WORST experience I’ve ever had! To begin, he will tell you he will attempt a laprascopic procedure but you will wake up with a huge incision. Even the nurses say he never does laprascopic procedures. After I went back to get my staples taken out 6 weeks later, is got to the car and my incision opened up because he didn’t close it correctly. It's been many years ago but he operated on my husband. Be prepared, he is straight to the point, lol. He's there to tell you how it is or might be, he's not a nurse but a busy surgeon. Trauma surgeons have to save lives, they do not waste time. Can't afford to. When he had time, I asked a lot of health questions and he is really knowledgable! But this is not a GP, heart surgeons/trauma have a very intense job.
In my opinion, he is an awful doctor. He failed to provide adequate pain relief for days after surgery, even though the patient was highly educated, had been continually employed for decades and not a drug addict. He rarely returned any calls from this patient. My family member had to take their own surgical staples out because he didn’t return their repeated calls for a post-surgical check up. If you’re looking for an empathetic, caring doctor, he’s not the one. Protect yourself and find another doctor. If there was an opti... read more
Great doctor! He is so caring. He did my surgery asap when others wanted to send me home and schedule for a later date. He also has an wonderful sense of humor which makes everything a little easier. My follow up appt was exactly as scheduled and he had me out in no time!! I highly recommended him!
