The following opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.I allowed myself a second visit to Dr. Tom Boetel before writing a review since I developed a poor view of the Physician and thought he was just having an off day. However, after coming back for a second appointment, I now know his true character and approach to medicine, and I would like the opportunity to share my experience and opinion of my interaction. I want to start by saying that the mixed to poor reviews of the physicians on Google and Healthgrades d... read more
Don't bother, Dr. Tom Botel, has no time for your issues and has very limited knowledge of Spine rehabilitation, associated pain or potential spine related medical problems. Further more he has interest in taking time with you or running further testing, to eliminate potential conditions. He is basically a pump you out collect his money, Doctor. It's an Extreme waste of time to even visit with him. It's really sad so many Doctors are now this way. You'll spend more time checking in, filling out unnecessary paperwork, that he... read more
Outstanding, comprehensive care for C-spine pain. I have been seeing Dr. Boetel for the past 10 years for a variety of issues related to cervical spine disease. He is extremely thorough in his work up and diagnosis, and carefully outlines a comprehensive plan of care based on imaging findings, physical exam, and symptoms. He is always willing to work me in, even at the last minute. Highly skilled and professional.
First impression is he has an inflated ego with goals to receive kickbacks and payments from Insurance companies. I was a legitimate case and he could not find anything to discredit my case, but he certainly did try. It saddens me that a physician takes an oath to care for a patient and then turns around and examines patient’s for Insurance companies to try and prove fraud. No physical exam was done. He asked me the same questions repeatedly. He read my records in silence. No orders received.
The person at the front desk and Dr. Boetel's nurse were both very friendly. I was glad I had read the previous reviews so I was prepared for either a condescending doctor or a friendly one. l Dr. Boetel was very friendly and explained my MRI to me and gave me the choice to call in if I needed anything or I could have set up an appointment. I like that as I don't want to go see a Dr. unless I really need to.
I did NOTexperience any of the rudeness others stated below. I found Dr. Boetel competent, polite, he listened, devised a plan, and didn't minimize my pain.
Dr. Boetel was recommended to us by our local health care provider. We were impressed with his knowledge, ability to explain the MRI and X-Rays, how clearly he explained his recommendations, and his desire to have the pain reduced in a timely manner. He made us feel at ease the moment he came into the room. He is very professional and personable.
A rude, condescending person. Perhaps a knowledgeable doctor, but hard for patients to see that side when taken aback by utter arrogance and careless attitude toward patients complaints. Will not be going to see him again. Unfortunately, this is second Sanford Dr. I have seen and notice similar personality traits in both, which are not appealing. After more than 20 years with Sanford I think it is time to move-on. A change the way staff and doctors treat, view, respond to patients has occurred. Perhaps they need some outside... read more
I saw Dr. Boetel Tuesday, June 30th in Sioux Falls, S.D.. After these reviews, wondered if I was making a mistake. After the appointment, I knew I had not. He was kind, understanding, asked me questions and allowed me to ask him questions. I did NOT at all see him as rude, condescending, or arrogant.
