Dr. Umstead persuaded my daughter, a young mom to be induced. When I asked her why, she didn't know, just trusted her doctor. Come to find out this "doctor" went on vacation the next day! Also, she is living with us temporarily because her husband had to deployed, he is in the US Army. This doctor would not let them skype so that this soldier could be there for the birth of his daughter while he is overseas. Nice! I've only seen him once. Waited at least an hour in the exam room for him to come in and when he finally did he rushed on with the appointment as fast as he could. Very rude. He asked me a question and while I was answering he left the room. Gave me the impression he did not care at all. So now I am looking for a new doctor.
He delivered 2 out of my 4 kids and he was the best! Although appointments took a while he didn't rush through my visit. He has a lot of experience and can handle any situation.
He is a GREAT doctor!! He delivered both my children and I was impressed w/ him. He does have a different approach and maybe isn't for everyone, but he truly does care.
Dr. Umstead is PURE EVIL my daughter DIED due to is ignorance. My daughters imbiblical chord was wrapped around her neck 3 times and he refused to deliver my twins in a timely manner took 7 hrs because he had "Practice to attend to" It took three attempts to intibate her to get her breathing. I time and time again hear about his mood swings and intolerable bedside manners.....My only saving grace is that ONE day he WILL answer to the one man where he will PAY for his SINS......DR. Rude, arrogant and incredibly belittling – Dr. Umstead is rude, arrogant and incredibly belittling. I left his office in tears. I am a 38 years old and have never experienced anything like what I went though during my visit with him. I strongly suggest you find another doctor. Also, he does not return patient phone calls.
transfered @ 37 wks – i was recently a patient at trinity womens care that supposedely is the "best" based on their posters inside their office, however, the only doctor there dr. mahnee disnmore has had her ability to practice revoked and is not legally allowed to deliver at any hospital which i was unaware of, she has had many lawsuits and sends her patients who are ready to deliver to spring hill regional which is a very poor hospital and many patients have almost died giving birth there- well i started getting the impres... read more
Not thorough – What kind of caring dr makes rude comments under his breath about your baby's size and isn't just joking around? I was like wow, did he really say that? So I clarified and he denied saying anything at all! Being a first time mom is a little scary! I didn't receive any reassurance or comfort from this dr unless it was one of his few "on" days. A Grateful Mother – Dr. Thomas Umstead is an angel to our family. After two miscarriages, which he truly held our hands through, he got to the bottom of the problem. The fruit was two beautiful children, whom I do not think would be here without him. Dr. Umstead truly cares about his patients and is a kind, compassionate and gentle person. I will always be grateful for his gentle demeanor, especially as he delivered our two children.
