Dr. Whalen is the first doctor to actually help me with my psoriasis. She listens to my concerns & addresses them. My body did not respond to the normal treatment for psoriasis. She did not give up, but explored other options. This has started to improve my quality of life. She also found some precancerous spots, due to her full body scan & removed them. Dr. Whalen has earned my trust & respect.
My Dermatologist retired. Dr Whelan was recommended. This was my third routine checkup. I had a precancerous spot frozen. I had to ask about care for the wound. Seemed very disinterested and dismissive of my concerns.

Dr. Gonzalez was warm, friendly, and caring. She took a great deal of time going over my records and history so we could discuss the best course of action. Because I have a situation which is a catch 22, she wants to be directly involved with my nephrologist’s assessment. We also went over my vitamin intake and she advised me of the pros and cons of taking too much Calcium via supplements which I wasn’t aware of. She is an amazing doctor that is kind thoughtful and caring. She goes beyond diagnosing and treating the primary situation but helps with mindset and life challenges with insights that are vital to successful treatment. Not your run of the mill in and out type of physician. Highly recommend!!!
Dr. Gonzalez is professional, friendly and thorough. She explains all test results in a way you can understand and gave me great advice on improving my vitamin D and Calcium intake.
He never says hello and goodbye at the appointment,so you never really know if hes finished. He refused to discuss the abnormal blood test results. He perscribed a diabetic medicine which emaciated me. I was already skinny and lost 20 lbs because of it. He scheduled no followup appointments for me. I now have a new doctor.
BAD experience with Dr. Whelan. Brought my two teenagers in for acne; at one point during consult, Dr. Whelan asked the kids if she could touch their foreheads with a plastic scraper. She scraped at a pimple on each, discarded the scraper and made a recommendation for treatment. I received a bill in the mail that included a $350 charge for each ($700) for a surgery! I called to complain and was told that was the bill and I had to pay it. Absolute BS, highly recommend avoiding this place.
I would never recommend going to Dr. Whelan. For my first dermatologist appointment I was left feeling very neglected and ripped off. There was no point of me having an appointment with her she had just given me a referral to go somewhere else even though I could have gotten that anywhere. (And for a much less copay) As for a specialist, there was nothing special about her or her staff. Worst medical experience of my life. No explanations on examinations, staff misleading over the phone as well.
