Referred to summit ortho and Steve Madey after a pretty brutal clavicle fracture, on the 18th of April. I called summit (I only ever reached voicemail) and they got me in a week later with a tentative surgery date a few days after. On my first visit (which was not even with Steve himself) his unprofessional new PA Corey informed me that he had decided to push my surgery to May 12th, as it was “not a big deal” (that is a real quote which she then tried to back track). Dr Madey has saved my hands and wrists not once; but twice, and I am forever grateful! I'm very active and athletic and today I have full mobility of both wrists and hands in broken bone injuries that were complex and needed immediate care--but very different kinds of care. His bed side manner is unprofessional. He has a lot of bad reviews. I was concerned with him because all his reviews and the lack of information he gave me. He never even told me the process or what my recovery time would be like. I decided to go have him perform the surgery after having a hard time finding availabilities elsewhere. He made up reasons why he couldn't do the procedure because he was probably offended that I brought up his negative reviews. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone looking to get surgery. I had a compound fracture of my dominant hand. I was in the area on a vacation so was under stress even more than just the injury. The level of care I received was exceptional, the PA'S were knowledgeable and have a very good bedside manor. I don't wish anyone to have hand trauma but if you do you can't go wrong with Dr Madey and staff.
