I had ruptured my colon when I appeared in the ER , was in extreme critical condition. Fortunately Dr. Macfarlane was on call that day and came up with a game plan that saved me from having my colon removed. After long stay in the hospital and months of home IV therapy he preformed surgery with the best possible outcome. He takes the time to listen to your concerns and explain available options. Undoubtable he is a very skillful surgeon and I'm sure I benefited from his years of experience.

I highly recommend Dr. MacFarlane. He spent 30+ minutes with my husband and I during my first visit to explain my unique medical situation. Ultimately he recommended surgery and explained his thorough thought process to us to help us feel comfortable with the decision, taking care to mitigate any potential issues that might arise. My surgery was a week later and he made us feel comfortable before/after. My recovery was just as explained. His staff quickly helped with any requests. He's the best!

My first visit was great. I left feeling confident and with a plan. Weight was not even mentioned in my first visit. Basically I was told I was fat and needed to lose 40 pounds during my second visit. I was also told they would get preauthorization for the CT. Not done. So basically I have to pay for CT and a second office visit. Do not bother to see Dr MacFarlane if you are depressed or over weight. Make sure preauthorization is confirmed by yourself before you have anything done.

I saw Dr MacFarlane for a hiatal hernia. Don't recommend him at all if you suffer from depression or are fat. He knew I was fat at the very first visit and yet he ordered a CT anyway and had me return for a second visit a week later for the results. The results were to tell me what we both already knew. I am too fat for surgery. What a waste of time and money. He should have just told me I was too fat at the very first visit and saved me the cost of a CT and a second office visit.
