Dr. Houghtaling and the hygienists/assistants are very nice. However, the receptionist was horrible. She came back to the exam room to escort me to the desk and berated me with her judgments on treatment of my son. Throughout the whole check out processes, she continued to loudly force her opinions on me. Sorry, not sorry I have 3 kids that I need to take with me to appointments and that I made a decision I thought best for my family that you didn't agree with!
Friendly office staff, prompt appointment, fantastic dental work and experience. Dr. Houghtaling made me so comfortable and unafraid. Best dentist I've ever seen!
This dentist was able to take me in for emergency issues, and fixing was fast and quick! Also referrals were quick. He also was kind and understanding concerning my fears & anxiety about the work that needed to be done! He is an awesome dentist!
With four children, healthcare scheduling can be a real hassle. I have been so pleased with Dr Houghtaling's staff ... they are helpful and resourceful and SO sweet. They've gone the extra mile to resolve insurance issues as well. I realize that most all dental practitioners are well trained to deal with patients of all ages, but we've felt especially fortunate for the family friendly TLC.
My whole family adores Dr. Houghtaling. We went to another dentist in town when we first moved to Astoria in 2008, and he was shockingly mercenary--you had to pay before he would work on you--no financing--and he'd try to sell you on more expensive fillings, etc. Dr. H is a humanitarian. You can pay off what your insurance doesn't cover and his staff is wonderful and helpful. The doctor is a delight; he's funny, kind, fair-minded. And he does beautiful work. He's smart, efficient, fair, and he's got a nice sense of humor. They also let you finance if you need to. We went to another dentist in town who makes you pay before he'll touch you. Dr.H. cares about patients and he does beautiful work. His staff is also great and helpful, and they all like him and each other. You can tell. And they will give ANYONE a balloon.
Everyone was AMAZING! Clean, friendly, and honest.
