I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Pannell as my surgeon. I had complications from a previous surgery procedure needing addressed, so my PCP recommended Dr. Pannell for me to visit and discuss the matter with. She was attentive and knowledgeable during our consultation, and truly listened when I shared the ongoing concerns I had been having. Recently had a consult - I wasn't 100% sure what to expect because the doc who did my colonoscopy gave no information about the referral. I believe that Dr. Pannell is probably a good doctor but my consult was rough. I am an aging gay man and had questions that I was clearly not able to ask because the consult was fast and perfunctory. Even if there had been time I would not have been comfortable asking about legit issues. Overall, UTMC does a horrible job with LGBTQ+ patients.
Dr. Pannell is an excellent surgeon. I had a colon resection done robotically by Dr. Pannell and I had an excellent experience. I felt great within one day after surgery. My wife could'nt believe how good I looked so soon after this operation. I had never had such a major surgery and had some fear going into the decision, but the good doctor put me at ease.
I had colon cancer. Dr. Pannell saved my life. She actually gives a shit and it makes all the difference in the world.
