I made my 1st apt with Dr. Shand this year, since it's closer to my home. I was charged 797.00 dollars (that my insurance wouldn't cover) for a 40 min consultation. 10 mins with the P.A., 20 mins waiting in the exam room, and a 10 min conversation with Dr. Shand. Dr. Shand was great, I really liked her, but I have to have this apt every 6 months to get my medicine covered by insurance, so unfortunately I'll be driving back to Charleston Oncology up near Summerville for these appointments where the charge was 49 dollars.
I had the opportunity to consult with Dr. Shand for a send opinion on 6/3/25 referenced by my radiation oncologist at MUSC. Dr. Shand spent extended time with me about my treatment goals and prognosis. She was kind, professional but comprehensive discussing these issues. I had previously sought my MUSC team about these issues and they were never addressed. Dr. Shand presented a great deal of reality. I have set up an appointment with Dr. Shand in September.
