I became a patient of Dr. Dormady's in 2005 after ho-hum experiences with oncologists at Stanford and PAMF. He is super smart, has wonderful bedside manner (very personable) and caring. Come to find out, so many other survivors are Team Dormady, too! I am prompted to write this now, 20 years later, to emphasize his commitment to his patients. I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with Dr. Shane Dormady’s unprofessional conduct during my care. Despite having several complex medical conditions and clear lab abnormalities, I experienced dismissiveness, gaslighting, and discriminatory behavior throughout my interactions with him. I came to dr Dormady when the situation was grey, protocols were no help and decision had to be made right now. His experience is crucial in making hard decisions your life depends on. He is one of a kind because he so cares about patients and he is always on your side whatever happens.

I saw Dr. Dormady for iron deficiency. I felt terrible I couldn’t even function or think. After a consultation with him I felt reassured and hopeful. He moved lighting fast to arrange my infusions of iron and even persuaded my insurance company to give me the best form of IV iron which they initially did not approve. Dr. Dormady gives hope and really fights for his patients. I highly recommend him.

I saw Shane Dormady on two visits at Los Gatos Cancer Center. Both times he was an hour late which I brought up to his staff. When he finally walked in, he was unapologetic and denied being an hour late, but when I told him the time of my appointment, he literally raised his voice and shouted "I DON'T CARE, THERE IS THE DOOR". His manners were abhorrent and vulgar, I was shaking. I have never had this behavior from any other doctor anywhere - ever!! In addition to Dr. Dormody's knowledge and expertise in his field, he is also one of the most caring and empathetic people on planet earth. Fortunately, my care from him is for an iron deficiency and not cancer, yet he gives me the same care and concern he would give to his most ill patients. I believe that he is not just one of the best, he is the best.

I did want to be happy with an oncologist. There have been a few too many negatives however. Dr. Dormady does run late with no apology. I think when a doctor is not on time someone should check in with you as well. He seems smart but a little full of himself. The staff all seem afraid of him. I wonder if his patients feel bullied as well? I don't know. The whole office including the top tier seems to gossip which is unprofessional.
