My 7 year old son had a root canal and a crown placed on the same day. He had been in pain and unable to sleep or eat the entire day before due to pain. After the procedure we went home and when the numbness wore off he was in so much pain he screamed at times, cried, tossed and turned then entire night and was still unable to eat.
