In 2007, I was a patient of Dr. Afzal. She had me on a plethora of medications to treat what she deemed was lupus. When I inquired about how she arrived at that diagnosis she said because of my age of being over 40, my ethnicity of being black, and a study she read that was done at downstate hospital in Brooklyn with Caribbean women. I told her I was not Caribbean so that study would not have any bearing on me and my health. She had me on Plaquenil, 40mg of prednisone, Cell Cept, and so many other meds.
