I was admitted to the hospital with a low Hgb and Hct. My primary care felt that I was losing blood from an upper GI and asked Dr Mahoney to take care of me. He did a EGD and found an ulcer which had been bleeding but had stopped. He biopsied the lesion. Blood was administered to bring up my Hct. I was extremely pleased with the care I received from all the staff but especially Dr Mahoney.
Dr Mahoney is fine but I left due to his assistant, Jessica. She consistently doesn't call in prescriptions or schedule procedures correctly, or at all. She never calls the patient back, no matter how urgent. To resolve an urgent issue with Remicade, I had to stage a sit-in at the waiting room for hours to get her to talk to me when she wouldn't call back. That's one of several incidents with Jessica that have cost my family time, money, effort, and reputation at work. Find another doctor.
In addition to being an excellent physician, Dr. Mahoney has great bedside manner---and in this field that sure helps! He and his entire staff made a procedure (that most wouldn't look forward to) a breeze. All of the nurses at the Midtown Endoscopy Center were helpful the day of and called the day after to assure my comfort.
I never got a chance to see this doctor. I wanted to see him badly because he seem like the best GI Doctor in this area. But it is hard to get past the bureaucratic rude manager and other receptionist s at his office. They spend all their time talking about insurance and how they will "kick me out" if I don't have the right insurance. I work for a multi-national company and I do have good insurance. But It is so hard to get an appointment scheduled with this horrible office manager.

We tried as best we could to accommodate this patient. Difficulties were obviously endured, but these are difficult times and insurance issues are often the barrier. I wish it wasn't the case and we do try to help as many people as we can. I have spoken to my staff at great length to improve and do what we are able.
Dr Mahoney is a wonderful, caring, knowledgeable doctor. My 21 year old daughter had extreme esphagus pain that began and became so bad in a few days that she could not eat or drink it hurt so bad . We didn't know why. Went to the ER and they were no help. We had never been to his office before, but we called Dr Mahoney and he fit her into his busy schedule and he did a scope procedure the same day. He thoroughly explained the problem, answered all my questions and was so kind. The Best!
I highly recommend Dr. Mahoney and his staff at Fort Sutter Medical Center. While having a colonoscopy is never a fun experience, Dr. Mahoney and nurses made the process and procedure almost enjoyable. This the first time I've ever had an I.V. (for the sedative) where I couldn't even see the point at which it was placed - experienced nurses! Dr. Mahoney visited before the procedure and had a nice chat with my husband and I. I was warm, comfortable and felt cared for the entire time. Bravo!
Dr. Mahoney was very polite and funny. He made my husband feel very comfortable after his colonoscopy and talked with him right away about how it went. Highly recommend Dr. Mahoney.
This is a conscientious caring Doctor. Questions about your health issues are answered promptly. This doctor actually called me on the weekend to inform me of my test results. I highly recommend this doctor.
My doctor in west sac refered him to me,hes a specialist I would of loved to seen ,but I was turned away because he doesnt accept my insurance blue cross blue shield - makes me sad
