I've been a patient of Dr Komins for over 10 yrs. I have never had a bad experience with anyone in his office. Dr Komin and all his staff are always very professional, kind and caring.
Usually I have great experiences here, though I’ve never actually seen Dr. Komin until yesterday. It was awful. He didn’t know medical terminology we were using even after explaining what they were, he didn’t know how to help us set up a medical procedure and refused to help us find the resources to do it, he refused to answer my one simple question, and he was extremely condescending the ENTIRE conversation. I travel from Bakersfield to Shafter once a month to see Dr.Komin. I drive the distance because he is that good. I've never had a problem with any of his staff before today. The rudeness of his newest receptionist had my BP results much higher than the normal logged results I keep at home. I broke out in tears when the nurse ask how I was doing, and couldn't relax until I was driving out of the parking lot, going home. Mixed feelings. I can get in on a Saturday. They have a man who I think is a nurse practitioner. A1c is 5.8 but he says Im pre diabetic. Does not send me for sugar test to verify what exactly is going on. Love female NPs/PAs. Prescriptions refilled but you better be on them at the appointment or it can be overlooked easily. Make a list of what you want to know and take notes. I still go here, not bad practice but you need to do your part and be vigilant (as with any where you go).
Doctor Komin is an ole time country doctor that I recommend to all families.
It sucked! Went to get Covid-19 test. They make you stand outside where there's no shade no seats. I'm 72 years old. Have asthma and neurophy in my feet and a bad back. He use to be my doctor so he should know this. I tell them its really hot out here. About to just leave and forget it they take me in. Komin sits me down ,runs a q-tip up my nose. When I can talk, I tell him he needs to put up some shade for people waiting outside. He says the GOVERMENT dont pay for that. I tell him they don't cost that much!!! I ask how long... read more
This is the WORST office I have ever been to. I went in and waited for an hour and didn't get a chance to see a doctor before i had to leave back for work. I rescheduled and my prescription was never called in. Then when i called the on call doctor he told me to go to Urgent Care instead of calling it in for me.
I think he is a piece of .... . My mom goes to him ,her lips were turning blue and he told her oh your lips aren't turning blue he says your doing it to yourself , what kind of doctor does that!
