I found Dr. Whitman via Psychology Today and saw that his website said that the first consultation is free. Dr. Whitman didn't seem to be empathetic or allow me to speak freely, which one would expect from a professional. He asked me for my insurance info so he could bill them. I asked him why and he said it's free for me but he'll bill my insurance as if we had a real session. This is unacceptable and inappropriate behavior and that doesn't constitute as a "free" first consultation. I will be reporting this behavior to the ... read more

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work for Dr. Whitman as an aspiring psychologist/sports psychologist. In addition to his busy schedule, he taught me about the interworkings of a psychologist practice and what it takes to one day start your own. Dr. Whitman is an empathic and understanding clinician. He takes a curious stance and is encouraging throughout session. Dr. Whitman provided a space for reflection and self-exploration. I appreciated the help he provided, particularly when I found it difficult to find a therapist with an opening that was willing to see me after business hours. Overall Dr. Whitman is knowledgable, helpful, and, accommodating. I would recommend family and friends to Dr. Whitman if they were looking for a psychologist.
