Beware of discrimination called mentalism or sanism. Those labelled "mentally ill" are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators, the vast majority of them are never violent; and anybody can be misdiagnoed so drugs are pushed. Pam - holy crud your experience is almost identical to mine. Dr. Balkunas made a VERY serious medical error with me (I won't get into it here because it would make me identifiable, but according to my outside doctors it would have resulted in a loss of life, limb or eyesight, as they put it). Rather than own up to it, he absolutely slaughtered my character using various diagnoses and recording complete falsehoods. I realize we probably both sound crazy, but this is the truth. Balkunas, MD, chief psychiatrist of the W-1 unit of the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain knowingly misdiagnosed me with Borderline Personality Disorder in May 2014 despite knowing from my family, my brother (who is himself a clincal psychiatrist) and my outside psychiatrists that no such BPD exists.
