After developing a bone spur on my heel, therapy included a boot and PT. No improvement, so 3 cortisone injections, 3 weeks apart. Day of the 3rd injection, ruptured my Achilles tendon, requiring surgery and long recovery. Surgery was completed by another surgeon/practice, who also removed bone spur. Cortisone is not recommended for Achilles tendon, but was advised that it was safe. It was not.
