I'm a 69 year young, pistol packin' ole Texas lady. I've had to visit with many doctors over my years. (growing older is difficult and ranch work, establishing who is the boss with a couple of angry bulls isn't fun either). Dr. Dwyer has always been there for me. He is a gentleman above all men and truly cares for and respects his patients. I had another doctor repair my shoulder years ago before I met Dr. Dwyer; there is no comparison. Dr. Dwyer is most awesome!
I had left total knee replacement surgery on 10/3/2023, by Dr. Matthew Dwyer, at the Baptist Orthopedic Hospital. I chose Dr. Dwyer because of his excellent reputation & the top notch quality of his work. I’m an RN…so I was very particular in the decision I made. He has a very pleasant bedside manner, and explains everything in detail. He(along with the assistance of his PA) did a phenomenal job on my knee. I did not experience any post-op complications, or issues with my incision. I started PT immediately after surgery, and... read more
He and his staff are accurate and direct. They give you all the information upfront to maximize your recovery time. My left hip surgery was June of 2021. My quality of life was almost instantaneous. 3 hours after surgery brief walks in my hospital room. 3 days after surgery off pain pills during the day only one to ensure a well rested night. 3 weeks after surgery enjoying physical therapy in Boerne TX. I remote work and was back at work within a week. Now in 2023 I have to remember that I had a left hip replaced. No residua... read more
Patient Beware! I am here to inform you of my experience with Dr. Matthew M. Dwyer, MD. I had a fall on 10/31/20 and visited Dr Dwyer's office on 11/2/20. It was a last minute appointment so my initial visit was with his PA, Andrej J. Arquitola. They performed an x-ray on my right hand/wrist and the PA determined I had a fracture in the scaphoid bone in my left wrist. They issued me a brace and scheduled a CT scan at Baptist imagining. Shortly after the CT scan, I had a follow up with Dr Dwyer to provide the results, and he ... read more
During this COVID experience, you realize how a business is run, even a hospital. My 70yr old father had surgery and no one bothered to communicate with me knowing that I could not be there in the hospital. I do not live with my father and I work in the food industry, so I cannot have a lot of contact with him because of this pandemic. When I picked him up I had a plastic barrier between the front seat and the back seat because I wanted my father to be safe in case I was asymptomatic for COVID. The nurse who wheeled my fathe... read more
I love Dr. Matthew Dwyer and his nurses. Only problem I really have is the administration/front desk. This year it has been so difficult to get through on the phones, always the voice mail and never receive a call back. I have seen 3 or 4 receptionist at the front desk and they don't answer the phone. Question is WHY??? Since 2012 I am a patient and had great service from the front desk cause there was only two receptionists, I believe one was Christi and they answer the phones.
I have been to see Dr. Dwyer twice now for two different injuries. Both of my experiences were very pleasent. From scheduling the appointment to actually seeing Dr. Dwyer, everyone was very nice and helpful. Dr. Dwyer is very knowledgeable. He was very good at explaining what my injuries were, and both times he was spot on with his diagnosis. I have since moved to Austin, but I won't hesitate to make the drive to see Dr. Dwyer again. Having a Dr. that truly cares for his patients is worth it!
Dr. Dwyer is a nice enough guy, but he is not the doctor I would recommend if you have any issue that potentially involves tendons or ligaments, or any issue that will potentially involve specific physical therapy or rehab. This feedback box is too short to tell the story, but basically he didn't pay attention to ligament and tendon damage for a broken finger, causing me to remain in a splint for 11 weeks (way too long for a hand), and resulting in long term range of motion and stiffness issues
Dr. Dwyer has been a fantastic orthopedic physician for myself and several of my friends and coworkers. I had a 95% tear of my supra spinitus and a bicep tendon tear due to a bonespur in my shoulder. It hurt so bad prior to surgery I couldn't even lay down to sleep without pain. He did a fantastic job in surgery and I'm now 100% with no pain. Awesome doctor and a great man!
