As a gastroenterologist for 20 years I have experienced a dramatic transformation in our field. Screening and prevention have become increasingly important parts of my everyday practice. For me this is a great fit. Any of my patients will tell you that my office visits typically includes reassurance that we "give out a lot more good news than bad news." I am absolutely grateful to be fortunate enough to practice in a field I truly love. I believe this results in the best care I can provide.

Tried to schedule colonoscopy for over three months. Made two office appointments. Needed second appointment because of pain. Couldn't get an appointment with Dr. for two months. Saw NPT who had no concerns and scheduled a fiber test in two months. Needed release from cardiologist. It was submitted twice. Went back to office and they couldn't find me as a patient. Dr. Dawson's office lacks professionalism and does not seem interested in solving medical needs. Please save yourself time, money and less stress by choosing a reputable gastroenterologist. I scheduled a visit to his office and was told that the only test that would help solve my medical need was a colonoscopy. I asked several times for a less invasive test because I had a similar test a couple years ago. No they said this is the only test to diagnosis the problems. Dr. Dawson is caring and spends a lot of time explaining. I never felt rushed. He has prescribed a medication that, after many years of suffering, is helping me tremendously.
Went for consultation and was charged over $200. I have been paying an average of $25-$40 per month to pay it off. Then I received a letter they will no longer see me as a client. A week later they put me into collections even though I was paying monthly!!
I've lived in the Bradenton, FL area for over 18 years and have test driven a lot of doctors. He is one of the best, if not THE BEST, Gastroenterologist I've been blessed to find. He never makes you feel rushed, he always has time to explain any question you may have, he is compassionate and his bedside manner is like you'd want for your Mom's doctor. The visit is not the problem getting a call back to even someone to answer the phone is impossible. I called on Thursday at 11:15 and left message for Harriette Dr Dawson Dawson schedule person. It's now Monday at 3:32 and still no call back. I have called twice today and been put on hold with a recording saying my call was next in line. Five minutes later the answering service picked up. Awful. Staff said I had cancer 6 months after a test. Wanted me to come back for cancer treatment. Dawson would not talk with me, nor office manager. They just wanted $$$$
Do not expect quality care. March 5, 2019 PillCam study. April 17, 2019 still no results. I've been waiting 6 weeks for the results of a test which my insurance company paid thousands of dollars for. After 6 phone calls and no results, I have concluded that Dr. Dawson either has too many patients or doesn't give a crap about anything but money. At this point, I wouldn't trust his findings, because he is incompetent.
