Professional, caring, considerate and compassionate. Takes time to listen and provides the best care. He did my surgery in 2017 and still provides the utmost care when needed. He always goes above and beyond for his patients. I highly recommend Dr. Van Ess!
I have been seeing Dr. Van Ess for a while now due to an ear problem. I have had issues with my ear since childhood and he has really been helping with the issue. After he rebuilt the eardrum and cleaned out where the 3 tiny bones are. I was able to hear better, prior to that I had no hearing at all.. He is very attentive, listens to what I have to say and yes he does take notes at the computer but that's fine. IMHO he is one of the best Dr's to see if you have an ear problem.
This doctor did not listen to me at all. Was more focused on typing into his computer than actually listening to what I was telling him. Repeated questions even though I just answered it. He is adversarial in his speaking manner and does not share information at all. I felt more like I was on a conveyor belt (patient in/patient out) than being seen by a knowledgeable human being. Dr. Van Ess, I am sure you're great at what you do, but I didn't experience that. PAITIENTS ARE PEOPLE FIRST!!!
Dr. Van Ess is a great Dr. He explained everything clearly and made me feel at ease about the procedure! The procedure went just as he described. I am happy :-)
Dr. Van Ess, helped me get my hearing back with reconstruction surgery, he is excellent, kind and catering, the overall hospital care was excellent, very professional office,I would highly recommend him. The whole procedure and and process was a good experience, thank you so very much.

Dr. Van Ess has a rare combination of being at the top of his field and having genuine compassion. First rate surgeon. The Mercy system is fortunate to have him on staff.
Dr.Mark Van Ess preformed a middle ear surgery on me with a new titanium implant and cylinder ,as my hearing had dropped off severly ,After 6 weeks I am now beginning to hear !! It is going to take up until March for the best hearing to return but this is well worth the wait as I am now hearing things I have been missing out on .Thanks so much to the team that did my surgery!
