I took my special needs child who was a newborn to Dr. Gilrane. She was so rude and condescending that I left in tears. I was a new mom and overwhelmed with the issues my son had and she offered no support at all. I was scared to death. Went to another pediatrician who eased my fears and helped me along the way. He 16 now and doing wonderfully, but her treatment of me still stands out in my mind.
I enjoyed this Dr. until my 11 month old baby swallowed a penny and she advised me to let it pass in his bm. Two days passed and it didn't "exit". During those two days my child stopped eating and became extremely lethargic. I took him to the ER and the penny was stuck in his throat. They had to perform surgery to remove it. They informed me at that time that if the penny had laid down in his throat that it would have closed his air passage. He went to sleep for 2 nights with that penny in his throat. We love her and her staff!!! She is very caring and personable. My child has been seeing her since she was born and is now in the second grade. I've moved more than 20 miles away and still drive to her office for my child visits. She takes her time and really explains anything that is wrong or good. When CHOA, started charging for nurse advice, she began offering after hour nurse advice for her patients. Dr. Gilrane is a great pediatrician!!
